Born out of a need for giant New York style cookies and fluffy donuts, Gooey began in 2020 - just before the national lockdown. We started in a little kiosk in the Northern Quarter on Hilton Street. The queues were massive and the kitchen was quickly outgrown. We started our residency in Ducie Street Warehouse shortly after, where our kiosk continues to vend. Our neighbourhood bakery and café on High St is our new and permanent home where we have expanded our offering with customers now able to stick around all day for our popular brunch menu.
Gooey is a local bakery with big ambitions! As we enter into an exciting period of growth we are recruiting a Junior Baker to join our dynamic team. We're looking for talented and creative individuals to get involved and be part of the journey.
To be successful in this role you will need:
* an understanding and application of bakery production techniques and processes;
* ability to accurately follow product specifications/recipes;
* a solid understanding of Health & Safety and Food Safety procedures.
You will be involved in cookie production, mixing / shaping / baking / decorating the cookie, as well as the production of donuts. We also make a variety of breads in-house for Gooey Café, with more products being developed currently.
About You
You will have a true passion and enthusiasm for the industry, follow food trends and keep up to date with new industry developments. A proactive 'can do' approach and strong work ethic is essential for this role. Experience in a similar role is preferred however not essential, you will have a desire to learn and grow with us as we expand our production and product range.
